Tauzin/Dingell Bill returns: Feb 2002
Tauzin/Dingell Bill returns: Feb 2002
HR1542, the anti-competitive Tauzin Dingell bill, which would relieve
monopoly RBOCs from the obligation to provide UNE and other high-speed
components to competitors, is back again in the US House of
Representatives. This bill will be discussed this week and is
scheduled for a vote on February 27, 2002.
Feb 27 2002: This bill has passed the House with a substantial
majority. While it is now expected to fail in the Senate, the House
has now given the FCC a vote of confidence in its efforts to
remove regulations from the monopoly telephone companies.
